I find him re-reading them when he is supposed to be asleep. The chapters are short enough to keep his attention and provide a fun plot for any first grade boy or girl. He loves reading, uhderpants even started writing his own comic books after we started the series.

We are on Book 5 now!

Excellent for my 8 year old son. I was shocked when I got to the part that Harold was gay.

I didn’t appreciate having to explain this to my 5 year old. This book was released today snd I just spent three hours reading it to my seven year old son.

We actually re-read the entire series, which we own, in anticipation of this sequel, and finished book 10 last night before starting this one tonight.

If you are a fan of Captain Underpants then this book is a sure bet. In fact, I think it may be his best work yet in terms of plot development and amusing moments. My son laughed out loud SO many times and I have to admit I did, too!

There was a possible discrepancy between this book and the previous one. It did not seem to be a plot development issue, just a mistake. I went back and reread it to try to figure it out but I was left a little confused. If I am incorrect, please comment! Thanks Dav for another really funny, well put together book that encourages kids to be kids, as obnoxious and as loud and with all the potty humor that it entails.

You outdid yourself on the Uranus jokes in this one, though the potty song in the last one was pretty hilarious to my seven year old, too. I am always captaain at seeing him so amused. This one is no exception, and in fact I think it is one of your best. Our 2nd grader struggled with reading and her confidence while reading out loud was low.

Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants

She was so underpats about reading out loud that her teacher thought she had a speech issue that required a referral to the speech pathologist at her school! We knew that she just needed to read more to build her confidence, however she didn’t seem to like any of the beginner chapter books that we tried. We tried various book series before we came across Captain Underpants. I showed our daughter the cover and she giggled. When we started reading with her that night we knew we had found a winner!!

She laughed throughout the entire thing! The chapters are short and easy to poopypannts. The pictures help developing readers stay interested in the developing plot, and the humor hooks them! We are so thankful that we found a series that helped our daughter learn to love reading. Just this past week she came home from school and said that she wanted to check out a Captain Underpants book at her school library but her teacher told her no! She said that her teacher doesn’t allow her students to read “those kinds” of books.

I was so disappointed to hear that a teacher would limit reading options for young readers. The books are very silly and a little sarcastic, but if children can connect to a book I believe undrrpants should be allowed to explore it!! If the underpanhs were inappropriate I would think they wouldn’t be allowed in the school library at all.

I was happy to see that my daughter pulled the book out of her backpack and said, “I got it anyway! Eliot Simcoe Top Contributor: My son loves this nonsense, it is complete nonsense too but really if your child will read, let them read whatever they want. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I saw these books and avoided them for years because I thought they had to be absolutely ridiculous! I was right, but when you have a acptain year old boy who is not interested in reading, you give these books a chance and I did and he LOVED them.

Yes, you have to be able to get passed the potty humor and or even better join in with the laughs because of course there is so much silly potty humor in them There’s a giant super hero in his underpants fighting talking toilets, so of course it’s non stop little kid potty humorbut it will ad giggles and delight into your child’s face and undegpants will learn to enjoy them just like your kids.

This is a book my 8 year old daughter actually enjoyed reading tbe her 5 year old little brother. My kids begged for more and more books and loved reading them, so I call them a WIN! prfessor

One person found this helpful. These books are on the shorter side, but the Ricky Ricotta series is one of a very few series of books my 7 year old, who was a stubborn reader, would actually pick up and read on his own. He loves to read these books to me and tell me all about Ricky Ricotta’s latest adventures. I credit these books with encouraging poopypwnts son’s newfound love of reading by making reading fun for him with stories that entertain him – and the few flip book style pages that seem to be incorporated into each book.
